Edibles have become one of the favorite consumption methods in Las Vegas. CBD-infused edibles, however, are catching up with the craze quickly. Cannabidiol, also known as CBD, has become a more common interest inside and outside of the cannabis industry. It’s medicinal benefits lacking in “high” effects are reaching more than ever with the growing advocacy for cannabis. Even here in Las Vegas, CBD is a growing trend. Sin City is known for is vices but, Cannabidiol, has a place in the mix as well. It’s only fit for Washington-based edible producers, Oleo, to make their way to the valley.
To test out their ease and potency, we tried Oleo’s CBD infused powered drink mixes. The brand specializing in powdered cannabinoids has a variety of flavors such as:
- Passion Fruit Rooibos Tea
- Raspberry Rooibos Tea
- Tangerine Rooibos Tea
- Coconut Water
All infused with instant powder mixes infused with CBD. Though the brand hasn’t been in Nevada long they’ve been around since late 2014. Powdered infusions have been around even longer giving edible lovers an alternative consumption method. Oleo’s, however, are made with 100% real coconuts and packed with electrolytes, vitamins, and mineral. Similar to the technology used in extractions with CannaPunch’s products, the instant powder is made with micro-encapsulated cannabinoids to accelerate the effects. Again, their products are CBD infused not THC. No need to worry about “becoming one with the couch” after trying these products.
I’ve personally been using CBD for some time to help with stress and anxiety. The option to have something as convenient and simple as Coconut water was too good to pass up.
Taste Test
My initial reaction to the taste was okay but, mostly due to user error. I got 3 of the individual packs of instant coconut water. I, being the adult-stoner that I am, forgoed instructions and added it to a cup of water. Though I did feel the effects, the taste was more grainy. As a warning don’t do what I did.
A quick Google search of the larger sized containers had instructions of 2 scoops or 1 pack per 12 oz. of water. The powder can also be added to a smoothie; simply stir or shake and enjoy.
With this information, I opted for a morning shake with almond milk. Their Instagram is full of inspiration so I took a little from there. This taste this way was much better and there was still a coconut flavoring to the drink. It was very smooth, much like actual coconut milk. There was also no medicine-like or THC taste to the drink either, making it pleasant all morning.
Potency Test
My initial taste test was with 1 pack at 25 mg. I don’t consume as much CBD as I do THC, so the lower dose fit perfectly. I didn’t feel the effects at first but, as my night continue my body did gain some slight relief from aches and pains. I could notice that my mood was much more content than I was before consuming.
The next day, I decided to do two packs since I woke up with some pretty intense back pain. The effects weren’t overwhelming but this product creeps, for sure. About 2 hours into the day, I started to get extremely relaxed. Not sleepy; but extremely calm. The drink’s effects were pretty refreshing overall, especially in the morning. I was so easily going about my day that I didn’t notice any feeling from the drink. It wasn’t until later in that night when I noticed some pain returning that I realized how the drink had worked. Aside from that, I was stress and anxiety-free but I did get a little too relaxed as the day went on.
The Verdict
Overall, I enjoyed Oleo’s products and do plan on trying the brand on the regular. The packs worked great for stress and mild chronic pain. I did enjoy the natural flavoring and no additives to the product as well. It was nice to try a high-potency CBD edible in such convenient packaging and easily dosable. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a more natural alternative to mild pain medication and/or a stress reducer. Be sure of how to make your beverage before cracking open the packaging, however. Otherwise, make some infused-libations this summer with Oleo.
