The Ganja Getaway to Transform Canna-Ladies

Meditating Lady

It’s summer and just about everyone is hoping for a vacation soon. Maybe a trip to Disney World or a nice staycation? The best kind of vacation for some in our canna-community, however, might be plates of joints and edibles being passed around a yoga circle. Maybe a tour of the cannabis fields of Humboldt?
For any canna-ladies in your life, we have just the place.
The Ganja Goddess Getaway nestled into the coast of Pescadero, is a women-only retreat allowing to come out of the cannabis closet and join your tribe in comfort. This retreat is more than just a couple of ladies getting high. The four co-owners, led by CEO Deidra Bagdasarian want to provide a space for cannabis to be used for self-improvement.

Bagdasarian started the overnight retreat in 2016 to help women connect with cannabis as well as each other. If you would like to use cannabis in a meditative and spiritual tool, the retreat claims to be the place for you. With hopes to be “soothing as well as transformative”, they aim to:

  • Promote the love, friendship, and connections that women have – with themselves, each other, and the world around them
  • Help women become the best versions of themselves
  • Share that cannabis is a powerful therapeutic tool to enhance spiritual practices and promote creativity
  • Help understand that cannabis helps us take down our walls and remove our masks so that we can love and heal our most authentic selves

Bagdasarian, who also created the award-winning cannabis company, Bliss Edibles, is joined by former Oaksterdam Administrator, Trish Demesmin, who handles event coordination. Sailene Ossman, also known as “mama” for regularly supplying the bud and edibles, handles Public Relations.

Their getaway houses activities that promote growth and self-love range from yoga sessions, expert panels, painting, and hiking among other things.

“Cannabis is like a mirror, in that she will show you your true self and hold your hand as you fix yourself.”
-Deidra Bagdasarian, Dope (2017

As California fights through difficult stages of legalization, the retreat is starting to run into issues with putting the event on. Because of current state-legislation, they have trouble finding venues that allow for accommodation aside from camping. They are also prevented from advertising on social media. Though it does create an all-inclusive atmosphere, the issue of advertisement keeps them from getting more business.
At the moment, there are two legislative bills that would help the retreat’s delima. Assembly bill 2641 would allow growers and manufacturers to legally transport product to events as well to sell directly to consumers. Assembly bill 2020 would allow consumption events to held at any site as long as they have permission from local authorities.
The two bills would help not only the retreat but also the numerous cannabis consumption events that take place in the state. High Times recently came up against some issues concerning this but, hopefully legislatures allow for more ‘camps’ and events like this to exist. Bill 2020 is awaiting senate vote while 2641 has to see one more assembly vote.

Cannabis is changing lives everyday. The getaway may be just the thing you, or a canna-lady in your life, needs to learn more about cannabis or simply find a safe place to grow with it.
