A southwest Las Vegas Valley dispensary is poised to become the first legal medical marijuana operation to open in Southern Nevada.

Euphoria Wellness scheduled its grand opening, albeit a limited one, for Monday morning. It follows the lead of a medical marijuana dispensary in Sparks that opened as the first in the Silver State.

The dispensary said it anticipates a long line when it starts selling strains to select, preregistered patients beginning at 10 a.m. The dispensary also acknowledged an initial limit of half an ounce per patient due to a limited supply of sale-ready products.

“In the coming weeks, we’ll be adding new strains plus edibles, oils and concentrates,” said Darlene Purdy, general manager of Euphoria Wellness. “By October, we’ll be offering the full gamut of medical cannabis products to our patients.”

Last month, Silver State Relief dispensary in Sparks began selling product for $195 per half-ounce of marijuana. Silver State Relief’s opening came 15 years after voters approved to legalize medical marijuana sales in Nevada.

Disputes over county regulations and potential legal battles held up the opening of legal medical marijuana operations in Southern Nevada. One Nevada lawmaker, State Sen. Tick Segerblom, D-Las Vegas, expressed the hope for Nevada to move to legal recreational marijuana due to booming revenue potential.

Euphoria Wellness is located at 7780 S. Jones Blvd., near Robindale Road.
