Dutch Girl Canna Cube Product Review

Cannasugar cubes

Product: Canna Cubes
Brand: CannaPunch/Dutch Girl
Total MG per Package (Single Dose): 100 mg (10 mg)

When shopping for edibles in dispensaries, one thing will stand out to most consumers. Regardless of the mass variety of types of edibles and companies that produce them, you tend to see the same brands consistently among shops. Depending on your area, it could be a handful of companies or a plethora. Either way, you may end up re-visiting some fan favorites. Between Colorado and Nevada, a constant in CannaPunch. The Denver, CO-based production company is on a mission to create THE best edibles and, considering you see their products and branding in nearly every shop in both states, they seem to be pretty close to that accomplishment.
Being known for their Infused-beverage line -which goes by the company’s name- they’ve ventured into different types of cannabis infusions over the last few years; creating 3 different collections for their products: Highly Edible, TumbleWeed, and Dutch Girl. For this review, we will be revisiting the Dutch Girl line. The line is aimed at those who want to enjoy the cozy comfort of home while consuming. Most are made into lite treats that aren’t overwhelming but, still pack that trademark “Canna-Punch”. We previously reviewed the Stroopwafels which won the office over but, today, we are trying the Dutch Girl Canna Cubes instead.
The Canna Cubes are actually Belgium sugar cubes that have been infused with premium cannabis oil. Coming in packs of 10 all counting around 10 mg per cube, they are great for smokeable-product consumers who want to switch to edibles. The cubes can be added to any drink or eaten alone. CannaPunch, as well as many budtenders, suggest you add it to coffee or tea in the morning. Maybe to try with those Stroopwafels for a truly lifted morning?

Taste Test

Though the cubes are infused, they are still sugar cubes. They can be eaten alone if you are looking to fulfill a sweet tooth. The canna cubes do have a slight cinnamon taste to offset the sugar and cannabis flavoring that they do have. If you aren’t a fan of especially sweet foods, adding them to a drink will be the best bet. The sweetness of the sugar cubes melt into any beverage without overpowering it with any cannabis flavoring. If eaten alone, the cannabis can be tasted, however. I can applaud them for not having any after-taste, however. With many drinkable infused-items, there can be a bitterness or sour taste to follow the item. Considering these are additives for other products more than anything else, it’s an attribute that anyone who hates the taste can enjoy.

Potency Test

So, now for the important part: how potent were the Canna Cubes? I used three cubes with my morning tea to help get the day started. I’m not a morning person. I have never been and I don’t think this will change after nearly 30 years. If you have read any of our other reviews, you may find my dosage dropped a few milligrams. I did this for two important reasons. In our Wake-and-Bake walkthrough, you may have learned that your mind and body can be overwhelmed by cannabis in the morning since your brain hasn’t fully adjusted to being awake at the moment. I didn’t want to knock myself back out; seeing that I haven’t been consuming THC-infused edibles as often as I was previously, I wanted to start off slow. Remember, you can always eat more but you can’t uneat something infused. If you aren’t sure about an edible, try a smaller dose than what you are accustomed to and test the waters.
Much like the rest of CannaPunch’s products, the Canna Cubes take an effect in less time than the standard 1-2 hours. I felt medicated effects within 30 minutes of finishing my tea. I was buzzing with energy and laughs but, like the CBD Coconut Water from Oleo, the relaxing effects of the cubes crept up slowly. It wasn’t a couch-lock relaxation but, enough to keep light pain managed and keep stress to a minimum. The effects didn’t last particularly long, however. I felt medicated for close to 2.5 hours. The time was much longer than smoking bud but not the longest edible experience that I’ve had.

The Verdict

The Canna Cubes would be great for someone who hasn’t experienced edibles often. The effects are a bit strong at first but quickly mellow themselves out. It helps aid stress-relief as well as anxiety which is great for those new users who may be prone to both. Considering the length of time the effects had on me, I wouldn’t recommend them for someone more experienced. If you are looking for something to couple with your Wake-and-Bake routine, however, this may be just the thing with it’s calming but mentally uplifting effects.
