Infused Lip Balm

Lip Balm

This infused lip balm recipe will keep your lips soft and silky by keeping them hydrated, sealing any cracks from chapping and ward off infection. Chapped, dry lips create a painful, burning sensation, which can take several days to heal. Using lip balm on the regular will help prevent this from happening in the first place. With all these moisturizing ingredients your lips will always be kiss ready :-*

  • Beeswax – protects the skin without clogging pores, locks in moisture for hydration, and beeswax carries its own anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antifungal agent.
  • Coconut Oil – besides being a tremendous skin moisturizer, coconut oil is also antifungal and antibacterial naturally. Also, as an antioxidant, coconut oil can help fight off nasty toxins our lips encounter every day. Also, did you know coconut provides an SPF 4 in sunscreen?
  • Shea Butter – considered a “skin superfood”, shea butter is packed with vitamins and fatty acids necessary for collagen production. Sunscreen ranges between SPF 3 – 6.
  • Avocado Oil – a terrific skin smoothing, moisturizer, avocado oil can be used as an acne treatment, and works as a natural sunscreen, which can range from SPF 4 all the way up to SPF 15!

Ingredients:

2 Tablespoons Shea Butter
2 Tablespoons cannabis coconut oil
2 Tablespoons Beeswax
2-3 teaspoons Avocado Oil

For Lavender Vanilla
add 6+ drops of lavender essential oil
1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

For Tea Tree:
Add 15+ drops of tea tree oil

How it’s done:

  1. Melt Shea butter, infused coconut oil, beeswax and avocado oil in a double boiler over medium-high heat mixing well.
  2. Place a drop or two on a piece of parchment paper and place in the fridge to cool. Test consistency of balm mixture, for a firmer balm, add more beeswax, for a shinier finish add more avocado oil.
  3. Add essential oils and mix well.
  4. Using a small funnel (like the ones you get with a flask), fill lip balm tubes to the top. If you don’t have a funnel, a small spoon will work as well. If you don’t have lip balm tubes, transfer to small jar or container.
  5. Let rest at room temperature until firm and voila!
